Installation Guide

Critical Installation Rules

  1. Panels must be installed from right to left — the left panel overlaps the right panel.

  2. All lap joints are factory-cut at predetermined points on the panel. Male laps must be factory-cut. Female laps may be field-cut but leave 3/16" of the gap for the overlap.

  3. Center-pin each panel at the center mark regardless of panel length — drive the nail leaving 1/16"–1/8" between nail head and panel to allow free expansion and contraction.

  4. Fasten at nail slots aligned with studs, maximum 16" on center. Do not hard nail fasteners — leave 1/16" to 1/8" between fastener head and nail flange.

  5. Temperature-based lapping: align right edge of overlapping panel to the 30° temperature mark when ambient temp is below 45°F; to the 65° mark when between 45–80°F; to the 100° mark when above 80°F.

  6. Offset lap joints between courses a minimum of 2 feet.

  7. Expansion gap in all trim pockets: 1/4" when ambient temperature is above 40°F; 3/8" when below 40°F.

  8. Must be applied over rigid sheathing providing a smooth, flat surface — maximum 1" thick underlayment (wood, wood composition, rigid foam, or fiber sheathing). Do not apply directly to studs.

  9. At outside corners, run the first starter-course layer to the corner; work the corner weave up both sides simultaneously as adjacent courses are installed. Maintain correct width, exposure, and keyway spacing when fitting partial shingles.

Storage & Handling

  • Store panels flat on a level surface; avoid prolonged storage in direct sunlight.
  • Do not stack heavy materials on top of panels.
  • Handle panels carefully to prevent cracking in cold weather.
