Results
Enter wall dimensions to see your estimate
Estimate only. Results are based on manufacturer-published coverage rates and do not account for on-site variables such as wall geometry, cut patterns, installer technique, or regional availability. Always verify quantities with your Pro Materials sales rep before placing an order. Exterior Pro Materials assumes no liability for over- or under-ordering based on these figures.
Step-by-Step
How to Run an Estimate
Pick the product
Choose material type - vinyl, cedar shake, stone, metal, or soffit - then select the specific product. Coverage rate loads automatically.
Enter wall sizes
Type width × height for each wall in feet or cm. Hit + to add more walls. Mix and match - the calculator sums them.
Deduct openings
Add window and door counts. Use the custom field for oversized openings like garage doors or picture windows.
Set waste factor
10% for clean square walls, 15% if there are cuts around corners, 20% for gable ends or diagonal patterns.
Read your number
The results panel shows net area, gross area, and the exact carton count rounded up to the next whole unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate how much vinyl siding I need?
Measure width × height for each wall, add them up, deduct openings, then add a waste factor of 10–20%. Divide the result by the coverage per carton for your chosen product. Our calculator does all of this automatically - just punch in your numbers.
What waste factor should I use for vinyl siding?
Use 10% for clean rectangular walls, 15% when there are a few cuts around windows and corners, and 20% for gable ends, diagonal runs, or any wall with a lot of angle cuts. When in doubt, go with 15% - running short mid-project is a much bigger headache than having a box left over.
How many square feet does a carton of Kaycan or Mitten siding cover?
Standard D4 and D5 profiles (Hardwood Valley II, Timberlake, Verona) cover 200 sq ft per carton. Wider profiles like D6 (Richmond) and D8 (West Ridge) are 100 sq ft. Insulated siding is usually 100 sq ft per carton too. The calculator shows the verified rate for each product.
Do I need to deduct windows and doors from my siding calculation?
Yes - but a lot of experienced installers skip deducting small windows (under about 15 sq ft) as a built-in safety buffer. That extra material comes in handy for future repairs and makes colour matching easier. Our calculator deducts by default but you can always adjust.
Can the calculator handle soffit and fascia runs?
Yes. Switch to the Soffit & Skirting tab and enter overhang depth (in inches or cm) plus the linear footage of each run. The calculator converts those to square feet and adds an appropriate waste factor for hip roofs.
What products are included in the coverage calculator?
The calculator covers Kaycan and Mitten horizontal and vertical vinyl siding, cedar shake and shingle siding (Novik, CertainTeed, Foundry), stone veneer panels (NovikStone, GenStone, Kaycan Versetta), MAC Metal steel siding, aluminum and vinyl soffit products, and Mitten Pleasant View vinyl skirting.
Where do I download product datasheets for Mitten, Kaycan, or Novik?
Use the Product Datasheets section on this page. Filter by brand, find your product, and click Download - you get a print-ready PDF with full specs, colour options, and installation guidance. No login required.
