Installation Guide

  1. Polymac is a horizontal-only panel system. Panels are installed in vertical columns (left to right), with each column completed before moving to the next. Installation proceeds bottom to top within each column.

  2. Install furring at a 45° angle every 12" c/c — this gives 16" c/c for screwing. Use wood furring 1"×3" or metal Z-bar furring (18g or 20g). All furring must be level horizontally and vertically.

  3. Wood Collection panels come in multiple plank variations (numbered on the back). Install in random order to avoid a wallpaper effect — never repeat the same sequence.

  4. Do NOT install over ZIP System Insulated R-Sheathing or similar dual-composite panels — insufficient rigidity causes movement, deformation, and oil canning.

  5. Install Starting Strip (M10G) 3" above the base of the wall. Secure with one screw first, verify level, then fasten fully. A level starting strip is critical — it guides the entire installation.

  6. Install transition moldings (M15P U-Trim) starting 11" from the outside corner of the building. Space subsequent moldings at 48" intervals for 48"-long panels, or 72" intervals for 72"-long panels.

  7. Insert each panel into the starting strip and transition moldings, then secure with screws on the furring. Use the plastic spacers provided by MAC for the first column — they set the spacing reference for all subsequent rows.

  8. Fasten screws with moderate contact only — do not overtighten. Screws must not exert upward or downward pressure on the panel; Polymac panels are designed to accommodate thermal expansion.

  9. For a vertical cut that will be visible (not hidden in J-Trim): cut the panel with steel shears, remove 1.5" of foam at the cut edge, then use the MAC manual folding tool to recreate the factory fold.

  10. For a horizontal cut at the top of the wall: take the measurement to the roof truss, subtract 1/2" for the expansion gap, then cut and install J-Trim (M01G) over the top edge.

  11. For high-rise or wind-exposed buildings: apply MAC sealant inside the female part of the U-Trim in 1/2" × 1" strokes every 24" for added weather resistance.

  12. Notify your supplier before installing more than 144 sq. ft. (2 boxes) if any product issue is discovered during installation to ensure warranty coverage is preserved.
