Aluminum Siding & Cladding

Aluminum Siding & Cladding - exterior building materials

About Aluminum Siding & Cladding

Aluminum cladding systems represent the premium tier of the metal exterior category - combining corrosion-proof performance, fire resistance, and architectural versatility that vinyl and wood products cannot match. Pro Materials supplies Kaycan's three distinct aluminum cladding systems: the LYNX® Premium Extruded Aluminum Siding Collection (0.071" extruded aluminum with PMMA wood-look surface and 25-year/50-year warranty), the Urbanix™ Aluminum Cladding Collection (0.027" high-tensile aluminum in a modern 6" smooth profile with 7-13 colours), and the Alu-Composite S-100 Building Envelope System (StacBond® FR aluminum composite panels with PVDF KYNAR 500 coating and 20-year finish warranty). Three products, three price points, and three distinct architectural characters - from contemporary residential re-cladding to commercial facade systems. Wholesale supply to contractors and architects across Canada.

Aluminum Siding & Cladding Buying Guide

Key factors to evaluate when specifying aluminum siding & cladding for your project.

Kaycan Aluminum Cladding: Three Systems, Three Applications

LYNX® Premium Extruded Aluminum

is the flagship residential aluminum siding: a 0.071" extruded aluminum panel with a PMMA (acrylic) wood-look surface that replicates natural timber grain and tone. Three-layer construction (PMMA surface, aluminum core, PVC support) provides exceptional rigidity, impact resistance, and surface quality. 25-year finish warranty and 50-year product warranty (with registration). Non-combustible. Available in 7 colours. The premium choice for residential projects where wood appearance with non-combustible performance is specified.

Kaycan Urbanix™

is a modern smooth-profile aluminum cladding for contemporary and commercial-influenced residential projects. 0.027" high-tensile aluminum in a clean 6" profile, manufactured in Canada. Corrosion-proof, dimensionally stable, and designed for concealed installation systems that deliver a clean, seamless appearance. 10 colour options.

Alu-Composite S-100

(StacBond® FR panels distributed by Kaycan) is an architectural composite panel system: two 0.50mm aluminum face sheets bonded to a fire-retardant thermoplastic core at 4mm total thickness, with PVDF KYNAR 500 70/30 factory finish. 20-year finish warranty. Used for commercial facades, building envelope systems, and premium residential applications where flat-panel architectural cladding is specified. Available in 10 colours.

Choosing between them:

LYNX® for premium residential with a wood-look. Urbanix™ for modern smooth-profile residential or light commercial. Alu-Composite S-100 for flat-panel architectural commercial facades and fire-rated applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What is the difference between LYNX® and Urbanix™ aluminum cladding?

LYNX® is a 0.071" extruded aluminum panel with a PMMA wood-look surface - the premium product in terms of gauge, material depth, and surface realism, designed for projects where aluminum cladding needs to read as wood. Urbanix™ is a smooth 0.027" high-tensile aluminum profile for clean contemporary aesthetics, manufactured in Canada, and suited to modern and transitional projects where smooth metal appearance is desired. LYNX® has a higher material cost and a longer warranty (50-year product warranty); Urbanix™ is more cost-competitive.

2

What is PVDF KYNAR 500 coating and why does it matter?

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), sold under the trade name Kynar 500, is the gold standard for factory-applied exterior metal coatings. The KYNAR 500 70/30 formulation used on the Alu-Composite S-100 panels provides exceptional UV resistance, colour retention, and chalk resistance, typically backed by 20-year finish warranties. PVDF coatings significantly outperform standard polyester-based coatings in long-term colour retention, particularly on commercial facades with prolonged sun exposure.

3

Is aluminum cladding fire rated?

Aluminum itself is non-combustible. The LYNX® extruded aluminum panels are non-combustible - a key specification advantage over vinyl on projects requiring fire-resistance compliance. The Alu-Composite S-100 uses a fire-retardant (FR) thermoplastic core, which is Class A fire rated for exterior applications. Always confirm the specific fire resistance classification with the manufacturer's test reports when specifying for projects with fire code requirements.

4

Can aluminum cladding be used in coastal salt-air environments?

Yes. Aluminum cladding is inherently corrosion-resistant in salt-air coastal environments. Unlike steel, it does not rust and does not require special coatings for salt-air exposure. This makes it a preferred choice for lakefront, coastal Ontario, and maritime projects.
