Allura Fiber Cement — distributed through Mitten — delivers the warmth and texture of natural cedar in an engineered cladding that will not rot, warp, or be eaten by insects. The product line covers four profiles — Lap Siding (five widths, six texture options), Vertical Panel (four sizes plus a 16" batten strip), Soffit (vented and non-vented), and Shake/Shake Select (four shapes) — all in 5/16" or 1/4" fibre cement thickness. The Allura Spectrum factory-applied coating system offers 25 curated Sherwin-Williams colours in an oven-baked finish that eliminates the need for a field topcoat; a coordinating Spectrum Touchup Kit handles all cut edges on site. For contractors who prefer to specify their own paint colour, the factory-primed option accepts any exterior 100% acrylic latex topcoat applied within 180 days. Wind load ratings from TDI EC-16 confirm performance up to -89 psf (shapes) and -68 psf (9-1/4" lap) for critical structural applications. Canadian credentials include CCMC-12987-R compliance with the National Building Code of Canada and Ontario Building Code Ruling 03-14-103.

LAPLap Siding

Allura Lap Siding brings the authentic look of natural wood to fibre cement. Available in Traditional Cedar texture, Smooth, Beaded, Dutch Lap, and Perfection Shingle profiles. All sizes are 12' (3.66 m) long and 5/16" (7.9 mm) thick — except Perfection Shingle which is 7/16" (11.1 mm) thick. Minimum lap overlap is 1-1/4". Available factory-primed or with Allura Spectrum oven-baked factory finish in 25 Sherwin-Williams colours.

Allura Panel provides a vertical board-and-batten or grooved aesthetic with the durability of fibre cement. Available in Traditional Cedar (no groove and 8" OC groove) and Smooth textures. Standard 4'-wide sheets in lengths from 8' to 12', plus a 16"×12' batten-strip panel. All panels are 5/16" (7.9 mm) thick.

Allura Soffit delivers a clean, durable eaves ceiling in 1/4" fibre cement. Eaves Soffit is available in vented and non-vented versions (12", 16", or 24" widths, 8' or 12' lengths) with 6.9 sq. in./LF net free airspace for the vented style. Porch Ceiling panels (4'×8') and Beadboard soffit (5/16" thick) are also available.

SHAKEShake & Shake Select

Allura Shake and Shake Select panels replicate the look of hand-split cedar shakes in long-lasting fibre cement. Allura Shake (1/4" thick) offers four profile shapes — Straight Edge, Staggered Edge, Half Rounds, and Octagons — on 16"×48" panels. Allura Shake Select (5/16" thick, Traditional Cedar texture) comes in 16"×48" and 12"×48" panels in primed and Spectrum finishes. 93 pieces per pack.

Installation Guide

Framing: wood or steel studs at max 24" OC. Steel must be minimum 20-gauge; 16-gauge recommended. Requires 7/16" OSB or 1/2" plywood structural sheathing plus a weather resistant barrier.
Ground clearance: minimum 6" (150 mm) above grade. Minimum 1"–2" clearance at roof rakes and headwalls.
At horizontal flashing (window/door heads): leave 1/4" gap minimum — do NOT caulk. At vertical terminations (windows, doors, corners, trim): leave 1/8" gap minimum — caulk required using ASTM C920 Grade NS Class 25+ elastomeric or ASTM C834 latex sealant.
Fasteners must be corrosion-resistant hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel. Do NOT use electro-galvanized, aluminum, staples, or clipped-head fasteners. Face-nail to wood with min 2-1/2" galvanized roofing nails (0.092" shank, 0.222" head) or 7d galvanized siding nails. For blind-fastening use 6d roofing nails (2" × 0.120" shank, 3/8" head) or #10 screws.
To steel studs: use self-tapping screws with minimum 1/4" or 3 threads penetration; pre-drill or use wing-tip screws.
Lap Siding installation: fasten through the top (nailing hem) only. Keep 1-1/4" minimum overlap between courses. Align courses with window/door heads.
Panel Siding: install vertically. Caulk all horizontal joints and butt joints. Cover all butt joints with a 4/4×3 batten strip.
Soffit: apply perpendicular or parallel to the fascia. Fasten 4" OC at all perimeter edges and 8" OC at intermediate framing. Leave 1/8" gap at all terminations.
Cutting: use a poly-crystalline diamond-tipped blade for siding, carbide-tipped blade for trim. Circular saw: siding face down. Miter saw: face up. Seal ALL cut edges with primer (primed products) or Spectrum Touchup Kit (Spectrum products) before installation.
Factory-primed products: apply two coats of exterior 100% acrylic latex topcoat within 180 days of installation. Do not use oil/alkyd base, stain, or powder coatings. Back-roll if sprayed.
Spectrum products: cut ends must be coated with the Spectrum Touchup Kit edge coater immediately after cutting. Do not paint over the Spectrum finish.
Install kickout flashing at all roof-to-wall intersections: minimum 4"×4" with 100°–110° kickout bend and 1" clearance between siding and gutter end-cap.
Notify your supplier before installing more than 500 sq. ft. if a product defect is suspected — required to preserve warranty coverage.
