Each replicates a distinct stone type with full three-dimensional texture on both face and exposed edges. - NovikShake panels are manufactured from polypropylene - an impact-resistant, UV-stabilized polymer with a multi-coat finish that replicates wood grain texture and colour tone. Polypropylene is non-absorbent, so NovikShake panels don't retain water and are resistant to freeze-thaw damage, rot, insects, and mould. The UV finish is part of the polymer matrix and doesn't peel or fade the way painted surfaces do.
- How does NovikShake compare to real cedar shake siding?
- In most performance categories, NovikShake outperforms real cedar in a Canadian climate - it doesn't rot, split, warp, or require periodic staining or painting. At viewing distance, the texture detail in Novik's hand-split shake profiles is indistinguishable from real cedar. Real cedar has a genuinely organic variation that polymer replication can't fully replicate at close inspection, but for virtually all residential applications, NovikShake delivers the appearance of real cedar without any of its maintenance demands.
