About Novik
Novik makes polymer stone and shake siding panels: NovikStone for the look of stone veneer and NovikShake for cedar shake. The panels are polypropylene, weigh under 4 lb each, and go up with a hammer, nails and a saw, starting from Novik's Universal Starter Strip. CCMC evaluation 13420-R lists them under Derby Building Products of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec. We stock five NovikStone and four NovikShake profiles in Newmarket.
NovikStone profiles we stock
Five looks, each with its own panel size and colours. Dry Stack Stone is precision-laid stone in random lengths with no mortar line, and Carrara Collection is a dry stack inspired by Carrara marble, in Grigio. Stacked Stone mixes stones of all sizes with narrow mortar lines. Artisan Cut has the look of hand-laid stacked stone, and Premium Hand Cut is dressed stone with a hand-chiselled face. NovikLedge finishes the top of a stone knee wall and works as a transition to the siding above.
NovikShake profiles we stock
RoughSawn and HandSplit are the two textured shakes, in Blended and Solid colours. Northern Perfection is an architecturally accurate 5" shake in Solid colours. RS8 is a full-length 8 ft rough-sawn panel, and the only NovikShake offered in the StainNatural colours.
How the panels go up
Every Novik installation starts with the Universal Starter Strip, set straight and level; Novik does not recommend another maker's strip. Panels hook into it and are installed from the bottom up, nailed through their installation holes with a small gap under each head, because polypropylene moves with temperature and the panels are set to allow for it. Cuts are made with a circular saw and a finishing blade, and NovikTrim covers the cut ends at windows, doors and wall ends.
Care
The colour is a factory-applied coating, so Novik panels are never painted; painting voids the warranty. Clean them with water and a garden hose.

- It comes down to the look. Each profile page shows its colours and panel size.
- Can Novik siding be painted?
- No. The colour is a coating applied at the factory, and Novik says painting the panels voids the warranty.
- What warranty does Novik offer?
- A Limited Lifetime Warranty for an individual original owner. Companies, condominiums and other non-individual owners receive a 50-year prorated warranty.
- Can NovikStone touch the ground, or NovikShake touch the roof?
- Yes to both, according to Novik. NovikStone can be installed down to the ground, as long as soil and rock are not packed tight against it, and NovikShake can sit in direct contact with the roofline.
- What wind speed is NovikShake rated for?
- Novik states NovikShake is tested to withstand wind speeds up to 140 mph, with the details in ICC-ES report ESR-2888.
