Vinyl & PVC Trim

Vinyl & PVC Trim - exterior building materials

About Vinyl & PVC Trim

Vinyl and cellular PVC trim is the low-maintenance alternative to painted wood trim that holds up to Canada's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking, rotting, or peeling. Unlike wood, cellular PVC will not absorb moisture, warp, or require periodic repainting — making it a popular choice for soffit, fascia, window and door surrounds, corners, columns, and decorative mouldings on new builds and renovations alike. The Restoration Millwork® line by CertainTeed is the leading cellular PVC trim system available in Canada, offering Class A fire ratings, ICC/CCMC code compliance, and a 25-year limited warranty. Every piece ships natural white and accepts paint, so you can match any exterior colour scheme.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What warranty does CertainTeed Restoration Millwork carry?

CertainTeed Restoration Millwork carries a 25-year limited transferable warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, including delamination, peeling, cracking, and warping under normal use conditions. The warranty is one of the strongest in the exterior trim category. Full warranty documentation is available from CertainTeed and transferable to subsequent owners of the property.

2

Can Restoration Millwork be used for interior applications?

Yes. CertainTeed also offers Restoration Millwork Interior trim boards, mouldings, and sheets - specifically formulated for interior paint adhesion and available in smooth profiles suited to interior painted finish applications. Interior PVC trim is ideal for high-moisture environments including bathrooms, mudrooms, basements, and laundry rooms where wood trim would risk moisture damage.

3

How do you join PVC trim boards for long runs?

PVC trim boards should be joined using PVC cement at all butt joints. Apply PVC cement to both mating faces, press together firmly for 30 seconds, and allow to cure before painting. A properly cemented joint in PVC trim is as strong as the board itself and creates a nearly invisible seam when painted. Unlike wood, PVC joints don't open and close with seasonal moisture cycling. Leave a 3/16" expansion gap for every 18' of run to account for thermal movement.
