Restoration Millwork® Cortex Hidden Fastening System

The Restoration Millwork Cortex Hidden Fastening System is a three-component concealed fastening solution for cellular PVC trim installations — purpose-built screws, colour-matched PVC plugs, and a setting tool. The process is straightforward: drive the screw through the face of the trim board, then press the matching PVC plug over the screw head using the setting tool. The plug sits flush with the surface and bonds mechanically, covering the fastener without caulk, filler, or paint touch-ups.

The main advantage over surface nailing is finish permanence. Paint applied over caulked nail holes will telegraph the repair within a season or two as the caulk shrinks and the paint film cracks. With Cortex, there is nothing to caulk — the plug is the same cellular PVC material as the trim board, so it accepts paint and weathers at the same rate as the surrounding trim face. Available in white and select colour options to match Restoration Millwork's standard trim palette.
