Installation Guide

Critical Installation Rules

  1. Never face-nail siding — always fasten through the nailing hem only

  2. Leave 1/32" clearance between fastener head and nailing hem (panels must move freely)

  3. Leave 1/4" expansion gap at all openings, corners, and trim junctions

  4. Do not caulk between panels or between siding and trim — panels must expand and contract freely

  5. Overlap panel end joints by at least 1"

  6. Stagger end joints by a minimum of 3 courses between adjacent vertical seams

  7. Check horizontal alignment every 5–6 courses with a level or chalk line

  8. Install starter strip first — this sets the angle and alignment for all subsequent courses

  9. Apply undersill trim under all windows; use snap-lock punch on cut panel edges for secure fit

  10. Apply window drip cap above all windows and doors before installing siding over them

  11. Do not install over foil-backed foam insulation — voids warranty (foil traps heat)

  12. Check all local building codes and fire regulations before installation

  13. If removing old siding, check for asbestos before disturbing — follow local abatement regulations

Estimating & Ordering

Formula

Siding required (sq.ft.) = [Total wall area + Triangular gable area − Door/window deductions] + 10% waste

1 square = 100 sq.ft. (standard industry unit for siding)

  1. Measure total length of all walls and multiply by wall height to get gross wall area

  2. Measure any triangular gable ends: (base × height) ÷ 2 per gable

  3. Add Step 1 + Step 2 for total gross area

  4. Measure each door opening (typical: 3' × 6'8") and multiply count by area

  5. Measure each window opening and multiply count by area

  6. Add all door and window deductions

  7. Subtract deductions from gross area to get net siding area

  8. Add 10% for waste, cuts, and future repairs

  9. Divide by coverage per box (200 sq.ft.) to determine number of boxes required

Colour goes all the way through the panel — scratches or cut edges are not visible from normal viewing distance

Storage & Handling

  • Store panels flat on a level surface — do not store vertically or at an angle
  • Keep dry and protected from precipitation and prolonged direct sunlight
  • Maximum stacking height: 6 boxes high
  • Maximum storage temperature: 130°F / 54.4°C
  • Do not drag bundles — carry or use a panel carrier to avoid scratching
