Application Guide

  1. HINGE SELECTION: The Mark II TrimMaster and Metal Master 20 series use the POWERslot hinge, which provides a 5/8 in. standard bend. The Mark I Series and Trim-A-Brake II use the Traditional hinge, which provides a 3/4 in. standard bend. Select your brake based on the bend profile required for your trim and flashing details.

  2. CAM-LOCKING SYSTEM: All Van Mark brakes use a 2-piece cam-locking system consisting of a rotating Aluminum Cam and a Polyethylene Wedge. This system self-adjusts to the thickness of the material being bent, requiring fewer moving parts and providing consistent clamping force across the full length of the brake.

  3. MATERIAL CAPACITY: Always verify the material gauge before bending. Contractor models are rated up to .032 in. aluminum; Heavy Duty models up to .040 in. aluminum; Industrial models up to .050 in. aluminum and additional materials including galvanized steel (20 ga.), painted steel (24 ga.), roofing copper (36 oz.), zinc (.050 in.), and stainless steel 304L (24 ga.). Do not exceed rated capacity.

  4. THROAT DEPTH: The 14 in. throat on the Mark I and Mark II handles standard aluminum siding, soffit, and fascia profiles. The 20 in. throat on the Metal Master 20 series accommodates wider stock and is designed for contractors bending large-format panels, wide fascia boards, and custom flashings.

  5. PARTS AVAILABILITY: Replacement parts are available for every Van Mark brake ever manufactured. Contact 1-800-826-6275 for parts and technical support.
