About Comfort Series Vinyl Windows
Comfort Series is the Ply Gem line of triple glazed windows for every opening style, including sliders. Horizontal sliders and single hungs sit on an oversized frame built for full-size triple-glazed sashes, alongside matching casements, awnings, picture and fixed units. With TG2 Eco Max Shield 366 glass, both slider types are rated to a U-factor of 0.18.
Comfort Series is the Ply Gem vinyl line that puts triple glazed windows in every opening style, including the ones that slide. Horizontal sliders and single hungs come with matching casements, awnings, picture, fixed, curve-top and rake units, so one series can cover a whole house.
The slider frame is oversized rather than a double-glazed frame with a thicker unit squeezed in. It takes full-size sashes and sealed units, with two full 1/2 in. spacer bars that leave room for every in-glass grille. Horizontal sliders run on two sets of non-marking tandem rollers that carry the extra glass weight, with Tri-Fin weather-stripping, a centre-mounted knife latch (two locks on larger units), a steel-reinforced pull rail and interlock, and an anti-lift sash. Single hungs have unequal sight lines for more viewing area, plus steel reinforcement.
Every unit uses three 3 mm lites in a 1.36 in. sealed unit with argon in both spaces, in TG1 (one Low-E) or TG2 (two Low-E) with Eco Gain 180, Eco Shield 270 or Eco Max Shield 366 glass. On Ply Gem's rating sheet, TG2 Eco Max Shield 366 brings both slider types to a U-factor of 0.18 (1.02 metric), casements and awnings to 0.19, and picture windows to 0.15.
Casements and awnings get triple weather-stripping and Truth Encore folding cranks in 11 colours, and casements lock with a concealed multi-point system. Comfort windows are exterior glazed, with continuous head and sill on multi-lite units; mulled units can be interior glazed. Frames are white or beige, with optional exterior brickmould. Installation Guide
GLASS: Triple-glazed units are 3/3/3 mm with a 1.36 in. overall thickness and argon in both air spaces. Comfort windows are exterior glazed; mulled casement and awning configurations are available with interior glazing.
SLIDER FRAME: Horizontal and single hung sliders use an oversized frame designed for full-size triple-glazed sashes, with two full 1/2 in. spacer bars that allow all in-glass grille options.
HORIZONTAL SLIDER HARDWARE: Two sets of non-marking tandem rollers carry the weight of the triple glazing. Tri-Fin weather-stripping on the operating sash, steel reinforcement in the pull rail and interlock, and an anti-lift sash are standard.
CASEMENT OPERATION: Open the sash fully to clean both glass surfaces from inside. The sash will lock even when not fully closed: shut it snugly, then engage the lock. On casements with two locks, engage the bottom lock first.
HARDWARE LUBRICATION: Apply a light coat of silicone or similar lubricant to track and pivot points once a year. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants, which stay wet and attract dirt. Coastal or dusty sites need more frequent cleaning and lubrication.
SCREENS: Screens use pull-tabs or plungers and are for insect protection only, not for child safety.
CLEANING: Clean vinyl with mild soap and water and a soft cloth. Do not use solvents, paint removers, steel wool or abrasive pads, and never use sharp tools on glass.

- Are Comfort Series sliders fully triple glazed?
- Yes. Ply Gem built an oversized slider frame for true triple glazing, so it takes full-size sashes and sealed units, with two full 1/2 in. spacer bars between the three lites.
- What U-factor do Comfort Series windows have?
- With TG2 Eco Max Shield 366 glass, horizontal sliders and single hungs are rated 0.18, casements and awnings 0.19, and picture windows 0.15. TG1 sliders range from 0.23 to 0.25.
- Does a Comfort horizontal slider meet egress?
- Egress on horizontal sliders is based on a 600 mm vent width. A single XO slider meets Canadian egress from 40-1/8 in. wide at 40-1/8 in. high, or from 48 in. wide at 32-1/4 in. high; awnings never meet egress.
- How big can a Comfort single hung window be?
- A single unit runs 16-1/2 to 48 in. wide and 30-3/8 to 83-1/2 in. high (rough opening). Doubles go to 95-1/4 in. wide and triple combinations to 118-7/8 in.
- What frame colours do Comfort Series windows come in?
