Installation Guide

  1. TIMING — Install DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® after roof sheathing and step flashings and kickout flashings are in place, and BEFORE windows and doors are installed. This sequence allows for proper integration of the WRB with window and door flashings.

  2. STARTING — Unwrap at a corner, leaving 6"–12" of vertical overlap at the corner. The bottom edge of the roll must extend over the sill plate interface by at least 2". Keep the roll plumb throughout installation. Stud-alignment marks are printed every 8" on the surface to aid fastening.

  3. FASTENING — Secure Tyvek® HomeWrap® to the stud or nail-base sheathing. Fasten no closer than 6" and no farther than 18" on vertical stud lines. Use DuPont™ Tyvek® Wrap Caps (cap nails or cap staples) for secure fastening that resists wind uplift.

  4. OVERLAPS — Upper layers must overlap lower layers by a minimum of 6" on horizontal seams, installed shingle-fashion from bottom to top to shed water. At vertical seams and corners, maintain a minimum 6" overlap.

  5. SEAMS & AIR BARRIER — Tape all vertical seams with DuPont™ Tyvek® Tape. When installing as a continuous air barrier, also tape all horizontal seams, around all penetrations, and at window and door rough openings.

  6. WINDOW & DOOR FLASHING — Use DuPont™ FlexWrap™ NF at window sills and complex curved areas. Use DuPont™ StraightFlash™ or Flashing Tape at jambs and heads. Flashing must be integrated with Tyvek® to provide a continuous water and air seal around all openings.

  7. UV EXPOSURE — DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® must be covered with exterior cladding within 4 months (120 days) of installation. Exceeding this UV exposure window will void the 10-Year Limited Warranty. Do not expose to open flame — melts at 275°F (135°C) and burns at 750°F (400°C).

  8. FACADE-SPECIFIC — Stucco: separate Tyvek® from stucco with a second WRB layer or Grade D building paper and integrate with weep screed. Brick veneer: maintain minimum 1" nominal airspace (2" for steel stud). Stone veneer: two WRB layers required per IBC 1405.7. Wood siding: prime on all six sides before installation.
