It is made for new gutters, because it is the hanger as well as the guard and goes on as the gutter is hung. For gutters that are staying, the dual-layer option is Gutter Clean Pro, which carries the same lifetime clog-free cover.

Alu-Rex's current D-11500 and D-11600 specification sheets rate it at 438 lb (199 kg) per linear foot. Alu-Rex's website and October 2025 product guide quote 425 lb (193 kg). Either way the load is spread along the whole gutter, because the hanger is continuous rather than a bracket every couple of feet.

What does the DoublePro warranty cover?

Three lifetime warranties to the homeowner at the time of installation: manufacturing defects, sturdiness (the hanger will not warp or buckle, which excludes the gutter itself) and clog-free performance, coniferous areas included. It transfers once with the house and requires installation to Alu-Rex's specifications, including screws into the fascia every 24 inches. Alu-Rex supplies replacement material but not the labour to install it.

What is the difference between DoublePro and Hover Pro?

The same dual-layer guard and the same warranties. DoublePro is screwed through the back of the gutter into the fascia. Hover Pro is for hemmed-back gutters and clips onto the hem, so no screw goes through the gutter and it can move with the temperature.

About Alu-Rex DoublePro® Gutter Guard and Continuous Hanger

DoublePro is Alu-Rex's flagship, and the reason it exists is pine needles. It is a continuous hanger with a gutter guard built in, made from two sheets of aluminum instead of one. The top sheet carries rows of 7/64 inch holes; the sheet under it has long oblong slots, and the two patterns are offset so there is no straight path from the roof into the gutter. Water gets through by surface tension and the suction the two layers create between them, which Alu-Rex calls Vortex. Needles and fine debris stay on top until the wind takes them. On a 5 inch gutter it drains 40.6 inches of water per hour per linear foot, and 49.2 inches on a 6 inch gutter.

The other half of the product is the hanger. DoublePro replaces spikes and spaced brackets with one piece that runs the length of the gutter: the front hooks inside the gutter lip, the back is screwed into the fascia every 24 inches with the self-sealing screws in the box, and the curved front edge, Roll-Back+, turns any overflow back into the trough. The current specification sheet rates it at 438 lb per linear foot. In a Canadian winter that matters twice. Snow and ice stay on top of the guard rather than filling the gutter, and the full-length support stops the gutter bending under the load.

The warranty is what sets DoublePro apart on a quote. Alu-Rex covers it for life on manufacturing, on sturdiness and on clogging, and the clog-free cover is written to include coniferous areas, which the single-layer guards exclude.

Installation Guide

Critical Installation Rules

For new gutters. Insert the front of the DoublePro inside the front lip of the gutter, then fit the back onto the back of the gutter
Overlap each section fully with the next
Crimp the back of the DoublePro to the gutter every 3 ft. (1 m) with an end cap crimping tool, so the assembly holds together while the gutter is lifted
Stop the sections 1/4 in. (7 mm) short of each end cap and fit an end trim in the gap
Slide the back of the gutter under the roof's drip edge
Screw the back of the DoublePro into the fascia every 24 in. (60 cm) with the self-sealing screws supplied. The sturdiness warranty requires this spacing
Where an upper downspout discharges onto the guard, fasten the two layers together with 1/2 in. screws, cut the hole, then seal around the outlet
Access panel (UA-11500 / UA-11600): leave a 9 in. (23 cm) gap in the guard and fix the panel over it with two 1/2 in. screws on the front lip. Put one over the downspout and one at the far end of the run
Corners: stop both sections 5 in. from the corner, screw each 5 in. from its end, and fit an Alu-Rex prefab corner that overlaps both
Seal any opening larger than one perforation (7/64 sq. in.) at overlaps, corners or ends with screws, sealant or an Alu-Rex corner. The clog-free warranty depends on it

Storage & Handling

Wind clears most debris off the surface. In sheltered spots and under overhangs on low-slope roofs, sweep the top by hand or rinse it with a garden hose when needed
Clear snow from the roof periodically, as Alu-Rex recommends. Damage from ice buildup caused by poor roof ventilation or insulation, and from snow sliding off steep or metal roofs, is excluded from every Alu-Rex warranty
Keep aluminum away from copper, pressure-treated lumber, concrete, stucco and roofing with metallic granules, and away from runoff off those materials. Contact causes corrosion, and Alu-Rex's warranty tells installers to avoid it
Painted or altered surfaces are not covered by the warranty unless Alu-Rex approves them in writing
