T-Rex is Alu-Rex's continuous gutter hanger: one aluminum piece that replaces spikes and spaced brackets on a new gutter and covers it as a leaf guard. At the specified 24 in. screw spacing it holds 214 lb per linear foot against 140 lb for spikes and hangers, it drains 29.7 in. of water per hour per linear foot, and it comes in 5, 6 and 7 in. sizes in Mill or Carbon Black.
T-Rex is the product that made Alu-Rex's name: a continuous hanger that replaces spikes and spaced brackets on a new gutter. Instead of holding the gutter at points a couple of feet apart, it runs the full length of the run. The front hooks inside the gutter lip, the back is screwed into the fascia with self-sealing screws, and the gutter becomes one stiff, reinforced section. Alu-Rex's independent load test shows the difference. At the 24 inch screw spacing Alu-Rex specifies, a gutter on T-Rex took 214 lb per linear foot to deflect one inch, against 140 lb on spikes and hangers at the same spacing. Tighten the spacing to 8 inches and T-Rex reaches 250 lb, the headline figure on Alu-Rex's product page.
Because it covers the top of the gutter, T-Rex does three more jobs. It is a leaf guard, with 7/64 inch perforations that drain 29.7 inches of water per hour per linear foot on a 5 inch gutter, and still 12.6 inches with 80 percent of them blocked. It keeps snow and ice on top of the trough so the gutter can drain in a thaw instead of freezing solid. And it shades the sealant inside the gutter from the sun, which Alu-Rex says prevents cracking and leaking.
T-Rex is a single layer, so it is the right call for leaves and larger debris, not for pine needles. Alu-Rex's 25-year clog-free warranty on T-Rex excludes clogging caused by conifers, and it is prorated. If there are pines or spruces over the roof, DoublePro is the dual-layer version of the same idea. It is the only hanger in the range made for a 7 inch gutter, and it comes in Mill or Carbon Black.
