The Gutter Clean System is Alu-Rex's original retrofit leaf guard, and the most flexible guard in the range. It goes on top of gutters that are already on the house, with no gutter replacement, and it is the one Alu-Rex product made for copper gutters and for half-round gutters as well as the standard aluminum kind.
It is a single sheet of perforated aluminum with three ideas built in. The Alu-Perf pattern of 7/64 inch holes is sized to drain 29.7 inches of water per hour per linear foot on a 5 inch gutter while keeping out leaves and larger debris. In Alu-Rex's tests it still drains 12.6 inches per hour with 80 percent of the holes blocked, and a 10 km/h breeze clears 20 wet leaves off a foot of it. Roll-Back at the front turns overflow back into the gutter. Flex-Seal at the back is a vinyl strip that sits against the fascia or drip edge and keeps the back of the gutter watertight, made to resist UV, mould and temperature changes.
Matching the version to the gutter matters. The standard M-5300 and M-6300 are not installed over screw-on hangers, so Alu-Rex makes the M-53ZIP and M-63ZIP for gutters hung with zip screw hangers. The MC versions are solid copper for copper gutters only, and the HR and HRC versions fit half-round gutters with an inside bead, in aluminum or copper, with an outside-bead version as well.
Being single layer, the Gutter Clean System is a leaf guard, not a pine needle guard. Its 25-year clog-free warranty is prorated and excludes clogging caused by conifers. Near pines or spruces, the dual-layer retrofit option is Gutter Clean Pro.

Clean and flush the existing gutters and downspouts first
Choose the right version: the standard M-5300 and M-6300 are not installed over screw-on hangers. Use M-53ZIP or M-63ZIP for gutters on zip screw hangers, MC for copper gutters, and HR, HRC or HR-540 for half-round gutters
Lay the guard on the gutter with the vinyl strip against the fascia or drip edge
Fasten the front every 24 in. (61 cm) with #6 x 3/8 in. screws
At each overlap, the stronger piece goes underneath. That is the piece held by the spike or hanger closest to the overlap
Make sure the vinyl strips of adjoining pieces meet with no gap
Fasten both ends to the front lip with #6 x 3/8 in. screws, and stop the sections inside the end cap so the end cap stops the water
Where an upper downspout discharges onto the guard, cut the hole and seal around the outlet
Corners: cut the sections at 45 degrees, overlap them by at least 1 in. (2.5 cm), and fasten with #6 x 3/8 in. screws
Inside corners and valleys: fix a water diverter on the perforated corner with four #6 x 3/8 in. screws
Seal any opening larger than one perforation (7/64 sq. in.) at overlaps, corners or ends with screws, sealant or an Alu-Rex corner. The clog-free warranty depends on it
